The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Michaela McManus Tells All

Michaela McManus~Jules spilled some spoilery tidbits to EW in an interview after wrapping for the holidays. McManus made her debut appearance on "The Vampire Diaries" in the Fall Finale, "By The Light Of The Moon". The beautiful actress dishes on her motives, Damon, Tyler and much more. McManus is scheduled to have a recurring role on the CW hit, so we can look forward to seeing her around Mystic Falls for a awhile.
Photobucket

So what did we learn? We’d do well to remember that exec producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec don’t write one-dimensional characters: “The fans don’t really know how to respond to Jules because as much as she is tough and a threat to Damon, she is also coming back to avenge her friend’s death, so you can’t really blame her for that,” McManus says. “She’s not outright crazy or mean. She’s just trying to protect herself and get back at Damon for what he’s done to Mason.” So does Jules want to make the ancient battle of the beasts her war, or is she just a provoked pacifist like Mason? “There’s this centuries-old feud between vampires and werewolves because they’re a threat to one another, and she definitely harbors a little bit of that,” she teases. “But the thing about Jules is, she has a sensitive side. She has to live with being a werewolf and every full moon transforming into this beast who wreaks havoc, but it’s not something she’s proud of or happy with. I don’t think she’s the kind of werewolf that just likes to go around tearing up people. She definitely has a hard time with it.”

From the promo for the Jan. 27 return, we know that Jules continues to face off with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and McManus promises, even though Damon is feeling vulnerable with Rose, his “special friend,” going insane and presumably dying from Jules’ bite, he’s still the badass we’ve all come to love. “She’s after him, and he’s just as much after her. It’s really fun to see the two of them battle it out,” she says. “[Ian's] so great. In real life, he’s such a charmer and so funny. When you’re working with him, he’s just completely unafraid to take risks. He changes things up, he’s always in the moment. It’s just a good time whenever I have a scene with him.”

The Vampire Diaries Episode 2.12 "The Descent" Caroline's Dilemma

Candice Accola spoiled to Fancast about the January 27th episode of "the Vampire Diaries". "The Descent" will be the first new episode of the new year and Candice's character Caroline will be doing a lot of kissing. The ever blossoming actress has a couple of beaus to choose from now, so what will she do :).
Photobucket

Who is the right guy for Caroline: Matt or Tyler?
I don’t think there is a right or wrong guy. Caroline, her number one relationship is the one that she has with herself right now. She cares for both people, but for very different reasons. The writers have done such a great job because her relationship and friendship with Tyler is based on experience that Matt could never relate to. It creates a bond for them that there are no words to describe. Her relationship and friendship with Matt is based on her first love. That really takes a hold of your heart when you’re young. It’s like that old sweater that you always want to wear. But, at the same time, there’s things changing in her life that he won’t be able to relate to. She will never be able to be her full on, open self with him. Both of them were lacking what the other one has so there really is no right or wrong choice.

In the preview of the first post-hiatus episode, Caroline laments that everyone is kissing her. Can you give me some hints about what is happening?
The next episode is her figuring out what she wants. Now there’s options. She had to work her butt off to get Matt’s attention. For the first time she’s really occupied with what she wants in her own mind, where these guys are all coming to her. I think she’s a little overwhelmed. It was really funny to read the script. There’s a lot of kissing in this episode.

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Ian Somerhalder Explains Brotherly Bonding

TV Guide has a nice interview with Ian Somerhalder and Julie Plec to share with the TVD Fandom. Ian and Julie shed some light on brotherly bonding and and all things Elena. Be sure to click here for the video.

"There is a bit of a bonding moment that's happening with those two," Somerhalder told TVGuide.com during our visit to the set. "One would think ... that Damon is flying high and really ecstatic about that. Maybe six months ago, yes, he would be over the moon, but I don't think so anymore."

Executive producer Julie Plec adds that the sometimes strained bond between Damon and Stefan is crucial to the show. "The power of the brotherhood between these two in times when they're living their lives the same, making the same heroic choices, or times when they're on opposite ends of the fight — that's the weight of the show," she says.

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers The Cast Takes Us Behind The Scenes

Zap2it has posted more of Carina's interviews with the cast of "The Vampire Diaries". They take us behind the scenes and dish about onset pranks, blood-loss and David Ander's return.

Paul Wesley, who was happy to do interviews despite having to come to work on crutches due to a badly sprained ankle, laughs, "It'll be interesting to see a Season 2 gag reel. On this set, we have fun, but we also take it really seriously, too. It's been so intense and we want to make it good so I can't think of any moments off the top of my head that are hilarious. We're always playing pranks on each other. That's incessant."

Sara Canning, whose character Jenna met the wrong end of a knife this season, dished on working with special effects blood. "When I shot my scene where Jenna stabs herself, we only did two takes, and the first one he rigged up the tube inside my dress so that the blood would start spurting out of my stomach, and it was like a lake of blood," she laughs. "There's a science to it. Someone was lying behind the counter using a hand pump to pump the blood."

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Julie Plec Dishes On What's Next

Thanks to TV Guide I have a few spoilers to share for "The Vampire Diaries". It was spoiled earlier that David Anders will return to Mystic Falls to reprise his role as John Gilbert in episode 13, "Daddy Issues". Now it looks as if Isobel, Elena's Biological mother, might be returning as well, plus news on the Damon/Bonnie front.
Any chance Isobel (Mia Kirshner) will return on Vampire Diaries? — Heather
NATALIE: Yes! Elena's malevolent-hot birth mother will be back to share her wealth of vampire knowledge. Maybe. "Isobel has a lot of information and will continue to be useful for that information," executive producer Julie Plec tells us. "Where she is right now, what she's doing and whose side she's on — those questions start to get asked very soon." (She's also not the only birth parent returning to town.)
Will Damon and Bonnie grow closer?
Vampires and witches are notoriously enemies, but in Season 2, Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Damon eventually teamed up to fight the bigger fight. The question is whether or not they will take it a step further and develop the close bond they do in the novels. Plec understands that theirs is a relationship important to book fans, but says, for now, they'll just remain frenemies. "The fun we have with them right now is [going] from two people who have absolutely no respect, admiration or love for each other, whatsoever, but because they share a common goal and share common loves, they come together and are willing to put their differences aside and work together."

Vampire Diaries Episode 2.13 "Daddy Issues" Ian Somerhalder's Naked With A Beautiful Girl

I spoiled earlier about Ian Somerhalder's character Damon Salvatore filming a bath/shower scene for episode 13, "Daddy Issues". Now we have conformation, thanks to People from the star himself that he was not alone. I wonder if it was sweet Rose, or another Mystic Falls Beauty. What are your thoughts. Special thanks to Vampire Diaries Source for the heads up.

How did Ian Somerhalder spend his birthday?

"I was naked with a beautiful girl all day," the star of The Vampire Diaries, who turned 32 on Dec. 8, tells PEOPLE. "I had a shower scene that led into another scene were I was kind of half-naked and wet."

Vampire Diaries Spoilers: New Season 2 Promos For 2011

The CW has released a short new promo entitled, "We Own The Night" for "The Vampire Diaries". There is also a new Australian promo that CQtv has released for 2011. Special thanks to Vampire Diaries Source for the heads up :).

Vampire Diaries Spoilers Fanbolt Get's Mythology And Damon/Elena Goodness

Fanbolt has released some juicy teasers about their set visit to "The Vampire Diaries". At the grill Emma was able to chat with just about every cast member and managed to get some 2011 spoilers.

A lot of fans have been wondering, how much more is there that we don't know about the Mystic Falls mythology?

"There's always going to be extra skeletons buried. Literal and figurative in Mystic Falls. It's got a lot of history, and it's had a lot of blood shed." Julie explained, "One of the things that drew Kevin (Williamson) and I to this project was when we first read the books, in book 3 or 4, when all the civil war soldiers rose up from their graves and fought back against Klaus. He realized that Mystic Falls is special, because there has been so much loss of life and so much blood shed that it is almost a stop on the supernatural map."

Ian Somerhalder was the busiest actor on set that day. He was brought into chat between scenes. He was in for 3 minutes, out for 20, back for 3 minutes, and that's sadly all the time we got with him. Hoping for more next time around. But we did get to talk with him about a couple things. How does he want the Damon/Elena relationship to evolve?

"I just want him to make out with her eventually. I mean Stefan gets both of them. And I think it's just time to pay the fiddler. I have no idea how that's ever going to happen by the way." Ian replied, "I would just like to see him be in her good graces. For her to see that he's not such a dick. But the problem is, he is. So I don't really know where I want that to go. All I know is that I want him to protect her."

Vampire Diaries Friendship, Love And An Unexpected Alliance "By The Light Of The Moon" Review/Recap

"Now that you've got that thing back, what are you going to do with it?"

Elena has been a fiery force of nature these last few episodes and even though her screen time in "By The Light Of The Moon" was diminished, her 'Petrova Fire' was still burning brightly. I love that they have brought the selflessness of Elena from the books into the series. Even though her tired plan to trade herself and that damn moonstone for the protection of her loved ones is clearly a bad idea, Elena irrevocably believes it to be the only option. Well, that got her put on lock down at the Gilbert house, complete with chaperons. Who are, by the way, surprisingly repose with each other. After last week's sexual tension tease-fest you would think there would be at least a smidgen of awkwardness, but Bonnie, Jeremy and even Damon are acting more like Frat boys hazing a pledge.

Photobucket

"Vampire Barbie asked if she could handle it."

Of course it was Damon's idea to transform Elena's house into a cozy prison. This was really genius, for two reasons: The invisible barrier not only keeps Elena inside, but no one can take Elena out either. On a side note; Has anyone clued Bonnie, Caroline and all the other sacrificial puzzle pieces in on the fact they're in danger of being used, blead and/or killed over a bar of soap in the name of Klaus' Master Plan?!?!
Damon is in full protective mode and I actually really like his restraint with Elena, especially given the situation. Instead of the usual outpouring of angsty, awesome chemistry that we often get with D/E(and love), Damon seems to have his eye focused to what's at hand. Personally, I like the slow burn of their constant intensity and inevitable coalesce. To me, that's what good storytelling is and Kevin and Julie have a penchant for it. Now, it's off to the Grill to investigate the new hottie in town and rekindle one of my favorite Bromances.

"Sheriff Forbes has officially declared Mason Lockwood a missing person."

I never get tired of Dalaric, they really play off each other beautifully. Fake drunk Alaric is hilarious, because you can totally tell it's fake and Damon swooping in for the rescue looks completely contrived. The plan is to slip some Wolf's Bane into Lady Wolf's drink. First, I'd like to say that when I saw this scene I totally got the 'I'm going to roofee and date rape you in the alley' vibe :). However, our Bromantic duo assuredly underestimated Jules. Back at the Lockwood Mansion Jules got on the horn with someone who was presumably another Werewolf and reported her intel. So, like is there a whole pack of surfing werewolves back in Florida just waiting to migrate up to Mystic Falls and do some Vampire hunting? Jules has the upper hand here, clearly she knows her mythology and can smell Vampires and Wolf's Bane. Ballsy; "You fool, I've been at this a long time. Tonight is not the night to pick a fight with me, you've been marked." Maybe Jules is more adept at controlling her werewolf alter-ego.

"You're welcome to stay here and rummage through this stuff."

I'm super glad Aunt Jenna and Alaric have been getting some sexy time, but bless her and her cluelessness. The Gilbert house is the easiest house to infiltrate in Mystic Falls, there's someone new and unwanted in there like every other episode. I know they can't tell Jenna about the new Hellmouth of the South, but someone could bring up the idea of ADT to her, and maybe shut the windows and lock the doors occasionally. Oh, and stop her from inviting every new person that arrives in Mystic Falls into the house!

Bonnie and Luka

I love the nickname of Manwitch that @cadlymack has given Joanes and Luka, so that's what I will be calling them from now on. I guess Bonnie is too smitten with baby manwitch to be suspicious by Daddy Manwitch's ginormous Grimoire collection. I don't know about you, but given everything that's goes supernaturally awry in Mystic Falls, that would send me a red flag. Anyway, Bonnie's heart is in the right place, but I can hardly believe she actually thought she'd be able to effectively de-spell the bar of soap, but Bonnie and baby manwitch give it a whirl despite my logic. As we have seen in the last two episodes, apparently channeling magic feels really awesome! Maybe that's why Bonnie shows a blind eye to the creepiness of Daddy Manwitch. I don't completely hate Luka, because he's very discontent with his role as minion to his father and Elijah. He delivers the bar of soap, unscathed, to Daddy Manwitch, but begrudgingly. Luka quite possibly could have some genuine feelings for Bonnie.

"I don't think it's like the Hulk where I get to keep my pants."

The highlight of "By The Light Of The Moon" was Tyler and Caroline. We all knew ahead of time that Tyler's struggle and transformation would be showcased in the Fall Finale and there was no disappointment to be had. My expectations were really all over the place with this aspect of the show, but I was really blown away by how TVD set themselves apart from other supernaturally based series'. The limited CGI allowed the audience to focus on the agony that this curse brings. The shadowing used was brilliant and made his bones breaking believable. I had to force myself not to look away at times. Tyler's convulsing and spasmic reactions embodied and authenticated what turning into a werewolf means in this lore. Michael Trevino owned the episode and his performance was heartbreakingly real and poignant. Even from the the first scene when Tyler was desperately trying to call Mason one last time, you could see the fear and anxiety with every expression and hear it in every word of dialogue Tyler spoke throughout the episode. Trevino's character has come a long way since season 1, Tyler has evolved into so much more than just a peripheral bully with a lot of rage.
Caroline's support through her natural enemies battle was beyond incredible. Candice Accola's character has become so much more in this sophomore season of "The Vampire Diaries" also. Caroline, once self consumed has be reborn (pun intended) into a sincerely selfless creature. The kind of loyalty Caroline manifests is something Tyler has never experienced. A shining example is how she remains, cradling him on the floor with her vamp strength while he labors to exist in his torment. Finally, as Tyler crests into an uncontrollable state, Caroline is forced to leave. Even as Tyler is chomping at her through the bars, the tears still come and Caroline is left wanting and remorseful because she has to abandon her friend and succumb to forgivable fear.

"I'm a man of my word Elena, I make a deal, I keep a deal."

Daniel Gillies character Elijah has been a scary mystery since he arrived on the scene in "Rose".  I'm not gonna lie, Elijah totally creeped me out from jump. I thought, "He's one hell of a villain!". Elijah's revelation about Klaus's plan and delusional state of mind makes sense. That, coupled with the deal he made with Elena has me hoping he's not just a big fat co-conspirator keeping all the sacrificial puzzle pieces safe for the demented-one. Elijah's posture and subtle movements make him very disarming, which also makes you want to believe him. He hasn't lied thus far, that we know of, plus he's all like; I'm so powerful and awesome, why would I lie? Lord knows the kids, the Brothers Broody and Barbie Vamp need the help if Klaus is as strong and deadly as everyone says. Elijah would definitely tip the scales in their favor. In addition, he has come up with the only plausible plan to date. I just hope it's not too good to be true, as with so many things TVD.

"The pleasure I'll get from watching you suffer is greater than any pain I'll ever feel."

Back at the tomb we have Katherine tormenting Stefan's thoughts with sexual goodness, fun times ;). Alas, the tomb tumble was all a dream implanted by the diabolical mistress of darkness, and I for one was disappointed.  Nina Dobrev makes the character of Katherine irresistible and as Kat, she has an electrifying chemistry with Stefan. We see a darker, more assertive side to Stefan when he's with Katherine that makes for some great scenes. I don't believe that Stefan is completely over his love lost with her and I would've liked to have seen them trapped together just awhile longer. Why else would Stefan want her to show him she's changed to seemingly prove her love?  I really sympathize with Katherine and I can't help but have faith that she loves Stefan. What she went through the first 20 yrs of her life would have broke any normal girl and centuries on the run would harden the best of hearts. However, despite the non-hookup Katherine did inform us that Isobel found her. Isobel said Katherine sought her out; So, which one is it? Before Katherine can elaborate Elijah shows up to spring Stefan, leaving Kat compelled to stay. Stefan and Elena end up together, of course, by the end of "By The Light Of The Moon", but it never really felt like they were apart.

"I don't love men who love other women, I think more of myself than that, but it doesn't mean I can't be your special friend."

Photobucket

I won't say much about Rose and I know there's a lot of hate in the TVD fandom for her, but she grew on me with that line. She further grew on me when she knowingly, without hesitation took the werewolf bite that was meant for Damon. As far as everyone knew a werewolf bite would kill a vampire, but Rose, for all intents and purposes, sacrificed herself for Damon. That's selfless and deserves notice. With that we learn that a wolf bite doesn't equal instant death, but does leave a nasty flesh eating wolf toxin behind, plus a whole host of other symptoms behind that we'll see January 27th when "The Vampire Diaries" returns.
