The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Michael Trevino Talks About His Sudden Exit

"Crying Wolf" had many OMG moments because "The Vampire Diaries" is never short of twists and turns. Tyler's leaving came as a shock to every TVD fan tonight. Michael Trevino chatted to Zap2it about his character's sudden departure from Mystic Falls.
Photobucket

We know what you're wondering: Is Tyler coming back? The answer is a definite maybe. He wasn't killed off, which is a good sign for us Tyler fans. Plus, we can assume that breaking the werewolf curse is still a priority.

Trevino visited us at Zap2it to discuss the circumstances of Tyler's grand exit. "It was just too much for him," Trevino says. "Too many cooks in the kitchen, really, because everybody was just trying to get in his head. He's still really lost at that point, and very vulnerable. He needed to leave."

There will be another full moon in Mystic Falls before the end of the season, but the question remains as to whether Tyler will be around for the big night. "We've told the transformation story already," executive producer Julie Plec says. "Now he's moving on to the next part of his journey, which is, 'How do I live like this for the rest of my life?' The way that it all fell out, the first part of Tyler's journey ended right when we had a lot to focus on with Elijah and the witches and imminent arrival of Klaus, so we figured it was a good time to give him that hero's goodbye."

When Plec and Kevin Williamson sat down with Trevino to fill him in on his character's fate, it came as a bit of a surprise to him, too. "I knew that there was going to be this battle with the vampires and the werewolves, I knew that somebody was going to have to go," Trevino says. "And when they said it was going to be me, I was kind of like, 'Okay... interesting.'"

It's clear he's not particularly psyched about his extended vacation (hey, the guy loves his job), and he's genuinely just as curious as we are about if and when Tyler will come back into town. "Now my mind's going crazy because I'm wondering what's in store now. When and if Tyler were to come back, either at all, or this season, or maybe he doesn't come back until Season 3 - how's he going to be? How much of a changed person is he going to be?"

What was your favorite OMFG moment?

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Nina Dobrev Talks About Klaus Means For Katherine

In a recent interview IGN, Nina Dobrev dishes about Klaus's imminent appearance and what that will mean for tomb trapped Katherine. "The Vampire Diaries" has found their Klaus with Joseph Morgan, so it's only a matter of time before he makes his appearance in Mystic Falls.

IGN: With the rising threat of Klaus, it puts a different spin on things with Katherine, because now there’s a potential threat to her and makes her current enemies possible allies against a common foe. Going forward, how are things shifting as far as the group maybe needing Katherine and her possibly needing them?

Dobrev: That’s exactly it. That’s the thing. She is stuck in the tomb and is contemplating and strategizing. But there’s only so much you can do. It’s not like she has a cell phone and can call up her buddy from who knows where. She has to be really creative and she’s running out of ideas and she’s getting frustrated and angry and she’s dirty and moody. And she’s not a happy camper right now and she’s also scared, because Klaus is coming after her and he’s the only person Katherine is truly afraid of. So it’s like a ticking time bomb and she’s just waiting for it to explode, because she is helpless. Katherine is not used to being helpless and she doesn’t like being in that position or feeling that way.

The Vampire Diaries Episode 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Ian Somerhalder Teases Flashback

Happy TVD Thursday! "The Vampire Diaries" has at least one more flashback episode headed our way in "The Dinner Party". Ian Somerhalder spoils to AOL about what we'll see in Flashback Falls this time :).
Photobucket

I also hear that Damon’s throwing a dinner party very soon. What can you tease about that?

Oh, that was so much fun. Being on set with Dave Anders, who’s my boy; Matt Davis, my boy; Sara Canning, who I just adore, and Dawn, who I just adore and Marcos Siega directing … and of course Daniel Gillies, who’s my boy; it was awesome. I had these five actors sitting at this table who I just adore and love being around and working with and then, we had Marcos Siega directing. It was a lot of fun, just a lot of wit being thrown around. Pretty funny, loved it, it was a blast!

We also have a flashback coming up. Can you give us any hints as to what we’ll see?

The flashback is actually really interesting. We just had a table reading, I just talked to Paul [Wesley], actually; he said he saw some of the stuff from the flashback and he said it looked great.

What you kind of get a glimpse of is the dynamic of Stefan and Damon back then … You truly get a different sense, you see more of the truth. I’ll let you guys see first, because it actually plays against a great deal of what we thought actually happened, for myself included. You see the influence that Stefan had over Damon, you kind of get a great glimpse of why Damon might resent Stefan and really want to give him a lot of hell.

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Elijah's True Motives, Klaus and Tension With Damon

TV Fanatic had an exclusive interview with Daniel Gillies~Elijah of "The Vampire Diaries". Gillies spoiled about his true motives, Klaus and a growing tension between himself and Damon.
Photobucket

Last week, we saw Dr. Martin take down a pack of wolves to save Elena’s friends. Does that make it safe to say Elijah wasn’t lying about his deal?
Yes, he’s clearly orchestrating these things. That was his mayhem. He’s acting as a godfather at this point... He’s ultimately playing chess with these kids.

Have you met Joseph Morgan? Are you excited to see what he’ll bring to the table as Klaus?
I haven’t. I’ve seen a little bit of his stuff, but I don’t know enough about Joseph to make a comment. I’m excited that there’s the idea that there could be a war between us, because I think that would be the most exciting thing in this show, like an exponential curve at the end of the second season.

Does Elijah know Isobel?
He’s aware of everybody. That’s the thing about Elijah, the only thing that slipped through the cracks was the potential of this doppelganger... The moment there is information to be had, he’ll have it. Nobody will be better researched or more equipped.

Will we see Isobel again this season?
They give me the script right before I film, and I have not seen any Isobel.

Any spoilers for the rest of the season?
Damon has been pissing me off lately, so I’ll give him a slap on the wrist if he gets too close. It’s funny; I’m talking as Elijah now. Elena is going to be in danger if they don’t do what I decree must be done. Also, I like the look of the Jenna girl, she looks sweet. I’ll go hang out with her for a while, she’s cute.

The Vampire Diaries Episode 2.14 "Crying Wolf" Damon And Elena Scooplets

We have spoilery tidbits to pass along to "The Vampire Diaries" fandom on the eve before an all new episode, "Crying Wolf". Damon is trying his best to keep it together and their will be plenty of Delena moments, while everyone evolves :).

Wendy: As hot as angry Damon is on The Vampire Diaries, I have a soft spot for good Damon. Tell me he chills out in upcoming episodes.

Well, he’s going to try. Ian Somerhalder promises us that much. “He’s trying his damndest to keep it together,” he tells us. At least Damon knows he’s miserable. So, that’s step one, right?

Is there hope for Damon and Elena on Vampire Diaries? — Carla
NATALIE: "In the lifetime of the series, every fan who 'ships either side of the triangle will have moments of hope," executive producer Julie Plec says. Does that mean we should stop asking? Well... "Stefan, Elena and Damon are a series-long journey for us," she says. "There are big moments coming up all around for them, lots of evolution of friendships and relationships, and questions of who loves who." You heard it, Delena fans — moments!

The Vampire Diaries Episode 2.14 "Crying Wolf" Jeremy And Bonnie Heat Up

EW has snagged an interview with Elena's little brother from "The Vampire Diaries", Jeremy Gilbert. As most fans know Jeremy is played by Steven R. McQueen. McQueen spoils about how things will be heating up between his character and Bonnie this week.

The extended promo for this Thursday’s episode of The Vampire Diaries shows werewolves both interrupting Elena’s and Stefan’s ill-timed romantic getaway and torturing Damon. What it doesn’t show: We may finally see Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) kiss. “Things definitely start to heat up and they start becoming a little more involved,” McQueen tells EW. (Even though we saw them walk away from Jonas last week arm-and-arm, they aren’t yet together, he says. We didn’t miss an off-screen hook up.) Told that Kevin Williamson has teased that we’ll see a kiss “sooner rather than later,” McQueen still plays coy when asked if this is, in fact, the hour. “I would watch this next episode and see,” he says. Assuming he’s already filmed the kiss to air at some point, we asked him to describe the staging. “If this hypothetical kiss happened,” he says, “I might have just grabbed her and gone for it. I don’t know.” (Knowing that Jeremy trying to kiss Bonnie at the end of the December cliffhanger was McQueen feeling the moment and improvising, we’d like to believe this.)

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Ian Somerhalder Dishes On His New Distraction, The Big Showdown And Klaus

Season 2 of "The Vampire Diaries" has turned Mystic Falls into a supernatural mecca with a werewolf~vampire showdown on the horizon. Ian Somerhalder~Damon Salvatore spoiled to Just Jared about his new lady love, the growing tension in the supernatural world and Klaus.
Vampire DIaries Episode 2.07 Masquerade

JJ: So there’s a new lady in Damon’s life, a reporter named Andie Star. What can you say about her?
IS: Andie’s awesome. She’s hot, quick, quirky, and witty. Even under compulsion she doesn’t give Damon sh–. What she does is she fires back at him as quickly as he fires off to her, and what’s cute about it is that he has this funny little answer yet he ties her scarf around her neck so no one can see. It’s just awesome. I love the dynamic that they created with her and they’re sort of this little team. She’s helping him execute his plans and they’re really just an unlikely team.

JJ: And who’s playing her?
IS:Her name is Dawn Olivieri. She’s a good friend of mine and I’ve known her for years and I was stoked when I heard that she was coming [to Vampire Diaries]. I don’t know how long we can keep her because she’s just got cast opposite Don Cheadle [in House of Lies] so I don’t think we get to keep her, but it’s bad for Damon and great for her.

JJ: Executive producer Julie Plec teased, “We have this impending ritual, the sacrifice that will break the curse of the sun and the moon — that’s where we’ll end our season”. Can you talk or hint a little bit about that?
IS: It’s funny because we get our scripts just a couple of days before. I know that there’s going to be a pretty sizable showdown between the werewolves and vampires and I can’t imagine Klaus not showing up after all this talk. So I don’t know, I can only imagine the way I see things going so there will be a big showdown, its a problem. Damon forged these relationships, found himself caring in places and times when its very intermediate, but I think protecting Elena and his home from one entity that’s more powerful or could possibly kill him is enough. Protecting her too is very difficult and it’s wearing on him and the couple is starting feel emotional and start not being able to understand how to grapple with all this emotion, it’s really tough.

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Lauren Cohan Dishes About Her Death Bed Heart to Heart With Elena

EW had an interesting and revealing chat with Lauren Cohan about her role as Rose on "The Vampire Diaries" and her exit. She gives an in depth recap of her death bed heart-to-heart with Elena, including; What happened to the line that was in the promo? You know, When Rose told Elena it was okay to love both Salvatore brothers.
We asked Cohan about that conversation between Rose and Elena that was in the promo but not in the actual episode — specifically that line in which Rose told Elena it was okay to love both Salvatore brothers. She says they shot a bunch of stuff that she assumes was trimmed for time, including “a deranged rampage through the parking lot, which really felt like the peak of the dementia” in between Rose killing the janitor and the car couple, as well as that revealing portion of her chat with Elena. “I loved that piece between Rose and Elena because I think Rose looked at Elena like a younger sister in a way, and it really was okay that Elena loves different things in both of these men. Being conflicted doesn’t make her a bad person. It was almost like Rose needed to tell her to not be so hard on herself and to not give up,” she says. “It was really cute because Elena tried to cover the fact that she does love them both in a way. That’s when Rose kinda pushed her to say it. [She's saying] ‘Come on. Just admit it. You don’t have to feel bad about it,’ in the same breath as, ‘Own who you are. It’s okay to let them fight for you. It’s okay to want to live. And it’s okay to be conflicted. Keep going.’”

Vampire Diaries Season 2 Spoilers Damon's Demons And What It Means For Elena

I have even more spoilery goodness to share about "The Vampire Diaries". According to Zap2it, the demons that have surfaced for Damon are only the beginning of his journey and Elena will play a huge part in how that journey plays out. EP Julie Plec also hints at what the impact of Stefan's darker side will have on his relationship with Elena.
Photobucket

The struggle, now, is that Damon has to watch while Elena's (Nina Dobrev) affections are directed toward Stefan (Paul Wesley). "He doesn't have Elena, and he doesn't want to be a hero. When things happen that make him look in the mirror and not recognize himself, he's going to go back in search of that person that he's been for the last 145 years. Unfortunately, that means reverting to some old habits that kind of defined him for a very long time."

When "The Vampire Diaries" writers' room first broke the story for the episode in which Rose dies, the hour had a very different ending. "We had written that entire script, and we had ended Damon's journey on that hug with Elena. We were done with the script and we were moving forward, and somebody said, have we taken Damon to too emotional of a place? He's sad, and he's upset, and he's struggling with dealing with his feelings," Plec says.

The writers realized that Damon's response to the overwhelming emotion of losing Rose and having a breakthrough moment with Elena would send him over the edge. "The idea came up that maybe he should just completely regress as a knee-jerk response to having too many emotions," Plec says." That changed everything."

And thus, Damon wandered drunkenly into the road, where he confessed his desire to be human again to a stranger -- and then killed her, just because he could. It's something Damon hasn't done in all season.

"We just sort of added it in," Plec says. "Kevin [Williamson] wrote his speech at the end, which was just brilliance in action. It changed everything. It really reinvigorated all of us for that character because Damon is all about how deliciously bad he can be and how epically good he can be, and how the two are always at odds with each other."

"It's no secret that having to play emotional Damon makes Ian really uncomfortable as a person, as an actor," Plec says. "It's hard, because you have to tap into your own emotional stuff, and now we keep challenging him. We're going to keep making him dig deeper and deeper."

Right now, Elena is blissfully ignorant of Damon's new taste for human blood straight from the source, but when she sees Damon with Andie (Dawn Olivieri) she's not going to let her opinion go unspoken.

"Damon's continued association with Andie will start to make Elena look at him and wonder. It's obvious that Damon is 'Carolining' Andie," Plec says. "So once Elena kind of figures that out and has time to have a heart to heart with Damon, it's certainly something that she's going to discuss with him. He's kind of exploiting this woman and our girl Elena is not going to be so down with that."

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers Matt Feels The Spotlight

Zap2it's Carina MacKenzie had the pleasure of speaking with EP Julie Plec. Julie spoiled about the Matt's big moment and the possibility of Matt and Caroline rekindling their relationship. She also dishes about the mounting romantic tension between Caroline and Tyler.
Photobucket

In case we haven't made it abundantly clear, we've been jonesing for a good Matt story line... so we're psyched to hear that Plec has some very good news for us.

"We're about to dive deep into Matt-world," she confirms.

Caroline may have to answer some questions... finally.

"Matt's been kind of busing tables on the sidelines for a good portion of this season, trying to understand what's going on in this non-relationship with this girl that he cares about but doesn't understand," Plec says. "We're about to really heat that up and have him start asking a lot more questions. He's really trying to get to the bottom of Caroline's feelings for him and where he wants to them to be as a couple."

Now that Tyler's in the doghouse, Matt and Caroline may have another chance at a real relationship. "In the last episode before we go away for hiatus, there's a really great Matt and Caroline moment that I think will make you very happy," Plec says.

Of course, with "The Vampire Diaries," things are never quite that easy. Keep an eye out for a powerful scene between Matt and Tyler in Thursday's Feb. 10 episode, "Crying Wolf." The stakes in this love triangle have definitely been raised.
