Vampire Diaries Episode 2.11 "By The Light Of The Moon" Spoilers

EW managed to wrangle some major spoilers for episode 11 out of Executive Producer Julie Plec. She spilled all about Tyler's transformation and his growing relationship with Caroline. Julie also announced the much loved, and missed bromance of Alaric and Damon would return December 9 in "By The Light Of The Moon".
The CWFans of The Vampire Diaries have to wait until Dec. 2 for the next new episode, but here’s some scoop to tide you over. Earlier this week, Michael Trevino filmed Tyler’s full moon transformation into a werewolf, which will air Dec. 9. “They shot it over two days. Closed set, special effects makeup guys, visual effects guys, Michael Trevino ready to rip out his soul and expose it bare to the world,” says exec producer Julie Plec. “I think if it’s even half as good as what we want it to be, it’s gonna be amazing. Kevin [Williamson] is the master and the king of the coming-of-age storytelling, as evidenced in Dawson’s Creek. This show is certainly literally not about any of that, but subtextually, it’s all about that. Tyler’s transformation from human into werewolf, it’s the literal growing pains of a boy becoming a man. All of the hell, and the pain, and the agony, and the confusion, and the torture that comes along with it — watching Tyler go through that over an episode will be really beautiful and powerful, and hopefully very harrowing. Seeing how he comes out the other side will define who he is.” Look for Tyler to take a cue from his Uncle Mason. “The old Lockwood cellar exists for a reason, and we’ll be making some very good use out of it for this episode,” Plec confirms.

The Dec. 9 episode will also serve as the midseason cliffhanger (original episodes will resume in January). Will Tyler’s long-awaited transformation be the actual cliffhanger? “Nope,” Plec says, laughing. “The transformation will happen, but it’s what happens after the transformation that leads us to our midseason cliffhanger. It’s what happens when a wolf makes an appearance to people we don’t want to see coming face-to-face with a wolf. It’s gonna really shake up the world of Damon specifically, and our vampires in general, with the werewolf being their natural enemy. It’s gonna start a new chapter of our show. Tyler won’t be the only werewolf in Mystic Falls by the time we get into the New Year.”

That episode features the arrival of Jules (Michaela McManus, Law & Order: SVU, One Tree Hill), an old friend of Mason’s from Florida who comes to Mystic Falls to let Tyler and his mother know that Mason never came home. “She’ll stick around for a little while, and cause all kinds of trouble,” Plec says. Fans have been wondering if/when Tyler would develop the wolves’ natural dislike of vampires. The wait is what’s fun, Plec says. “With our vampires, you have the Old World vampires that we’re slowly introducing that have a code and a set of rules that they live by, and then you have our New World vampires who are like, ‘What? Who? I don’t even know what you’re talking about’ and are much more independent, every-man-for-himself kind of vampires. The werewolves are gonna have the same sort of idea. The newbies are just like, ‘Dude, I just triggered a curse. I killed somebody. I’m a werewolf. I don’t know what the hell to do with myself.’ And when we introduce down the road some werewolves who have been schooled through their family bloodlines for generation upon generation upon generation, they’re gonna have a much darker point of view about the vampires than somebody like Mason and Tyler, who stumbled upon their curse accidentally.”

For now, at least, fans can enjoy the werewolf-vampire bonding between Tyler and Caroline. As Trevino told us, Tyler will continue to lean on Caroline as the full moon approaches.”They’re gonna go through hell and back with each other, and a very, very intense relationship is gonna develop as a result of that experience,” Plec says. “If and when it turns romantic, is one of those wait-and-see kind of things.” Something you can count on: Caroline’s decision to keep from Damon the fact that she told Tyler she’s a vampire will have “some repercussions” in the New Year, Plec says.

One final tease for Alaric fans, as reported in our Spoiler Room, Dec. 9 will see the return of the unlikely (and always entertaining) bromance between Alaric and Damon. “I think Matt Davis as Alaric is so fantastic and so sexy and such a man. His character means and adds so much to the show,” Plec says. “We’ve actually been trying to really up our game in the writers room trying to break a great arc for him and really showcase him.” Something else to look forward to in 2011.

Vampire Diaries Episode 2.10 "Sacrifice" First Photos

Thanks to Bloodfalls we have our first look at the December 2nd episode of "The Vampire Diaries", entitled "Sacrifice". Earlier I spoiled the extended promo, guide and some nice sneak peeks. Check it all out and sound off with your thoughts.

Vampire Diaries Episode 2.10 "Sacrifice" Extended Promo

A lot of history was revealed in tonight's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" and that only makes us more anxious for "Sacrifice", which is scheduled to air December 2nd. The CW has released the extended promo for Episode 10 and things will be heating up on all fronts ;).

Vampire Diaries Spoilers Petrova Doppelgangers and The Big Bad, Klaus

In an interview with Hollywood Insider the mistress of tease herself, Julie Plec~Executive Producer of "The Vampire Diaries" spills about Katerina, Klaus and Damon's bare essentials. She doesn't hold back and spoils some major stuff ;).

We won’t be meeting Klaus, but we will be hearing all about him: “This episode gives us a lot more information: Who he is, how desperately afraid people are of him and have been since the beginning of time, how Katherine crossed his path and drew his ire, and how her experience with Klaus shaped who she is today,” Plec says. “We get to learn that all through some pretty amazing flashbacks that take us from Bulgaria, to the English countryside, back to Bulgaria — all set against the stuff that’s happening in the present day. The mystery of Klaus and when we’ll see Klaus is going to be the same question of ‘When will we see Katherine?’ from last season. We’re gonna learn a lot about him and be hopefully very afraid of him before we ever lay eyes on him. That’s gonna be a nice, big, long healthy tease. It’s so funny, the way we dropped the bomb of his name last episode [Rose said The Originals, the oldest vampires, will be coming for Elena, and they'll be doing it for him, Klaus], Kevin and I were laughing. We’re like, the book fans are gonna lose their freakin’ minds in this moment, and the rest of America is gonna go, ‘Huh… Alright. Who’s that?’ [Laughs] But it’s one of those moments that you’re like, I don’t care because I know the million book fans are gonna be so excited that it’s worth it.” We found out in last week’s episode that Katherine was the first Petrova doppelgänger. Does that mean we could, conceivably, see Dobrev playing three roles in an episode at some point? “I think there’s always a chance — not this year. We have our little Charlotte Petrova character in our heads that we laugh and joke about in the writers room,” Plec says. “Whether we decide to go back to year 1200 and meet her, or maybe she was trollin’ around World War II Germany or Woodstock in the ’60s, who knows. It’s something that we have fun with, but it’s not in our canon as of yet.”

Vampire Diaries Episode 2.10 "Sacrifice" Guide

Earlier I spoiled two sneak peeks for episode 10, "Sacrifice". The CW has now released the official synopsis for "Sacrifice".

JEREMY MAKES A DANGEROUS MISTAKE — Elena (Nina Dobrev) decides to take matters into her own hands and offers a tempting incentive to Rose (guest star Lauren Cohan) for her help. When things take an unexpected turn, however, Rose calls on Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to deal with the plan Elena has set in motion. Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) reckless attempt to help Bonnie (Katerina Graham) retrieve the moonstone lands him in a life-threatening position and forces Stefan (Paul Wesley) to put himself in danger. Bonnie and Luka (guest star Bryton James) form a closer connection. Tyler (Michael Trevino) shows Caroline (Candice Accola) the Lockwood cellar, where she makes a discovery that leaves them both terrified. Sara Canning, Zach Roerig and Matt Davis also star. Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#210).

Vampire Diaries Episode 10 "Sacrifice" Sneak Peeks

Thanks to the CW Bloodlines game we have two new sneak peeks to share. The quality is not great, but there's some spoilery goodness to be had for episode 10 "Sacrifice". It looks like Elena will awake to a stranger in her room while Caroline and Tyler have some dungeon bonding time.

The CW released that Randy Goodwin has been cast to play Joanes, Luka's father, on "The Vampire Diaries". Below we have an episode still from "Katerina" with newcomer Joanes and Bonnie~Katerina Graham. I wonder what secrets this families hiding, because they sure do know a lot about Bonnie's family.

Special thanks to Johanna for the heads up :).

Vampire Diaries Spoilers Wolves and Relationships

Zap2it reports wolves, wolves, wolves oh my, plus some spoilery tid-bits to boot ;). While Nina Dobrev talks about what a Jeremy and Bonnie pairing would mean to her and hints at 'normalcy'...yeah right. Not in Mystic Falls!

If Trevino's performance in this episode is half as good as his recent work, I'm sure it's going to be quite a ride. Tyler isn't exactly a talker, but Trevino manages to make even his quietest scenes powerful and often painful. (Who didn't feel for Tyler when he realized he'd killed is friend Sarah? If you didn't get choked up, I'm concerned for you.)

The transformation will be directed by Marcos Siega, who directed 10 episodes of Season 1 and acted as supervising producer before leaving the show to work on other projects and spend time with his growing family in Los Angeles. Siega is beloved by fans, cast, and crew, so everyone is thrilled to have him back for this landmark episode.

So what does big sister Elena think about her brother's crush on her BFF? MTV spoke to Nina Dobrev on her recent whirlwind NYC press trip -- and she says that right now, Elena is too distracted to notice the sparks!

"I think that Elena is so stuck in save the world, save my brother, save my friends and try to save myself and try-to-be-normal-at-the-same-time mode, that she's kind of oblivious to everything else that's going on around her," Dobrev says. "It'll be interesting to see once she comes back to normalcy."
